The 2023 Asia Cup will take place in Pakistan and Sri Lanka between August 31 and September 17. The tournament’s locations and dates have been decided. A detailed schedule, nevertheless, has not yet been made public.

BCCI’s Statement:

A hybrid format had to be implemented because the BCCI’s announcement that India will not visit Pakistan prevented the tournament from taking place entirely in Pakistan as originally planned.
According to CRICKET VIP, four of the 13 matches will be played in Pakistan. And the other nine in Sri Lanka under the hybrid scheduling scheme approved by the Asian Cricket Council.

Najam Sethi Statement On Asia Cup:

This will be the first time since 2008 that Pakistan will host games in a multi-nation competition. Najam Sethi stated that I’m thrilled that the ACC Asia Cup 2023 will use our hybrid design. Because the Indian cricket team was unable to go to Pakistan. It was necessary for the PCB to continue organizing the event and holding the matches in Pakistan at a neutral site in Sri Lanka.

We understand the BCCI’s stance. But our fans would have delighted to watch the India cricket team play in Pakistan . The BCCI, like the PCB, needs government authorization and consent before crossing international borders.

Now that a few minor organizational and logistical kinks have been worked out. I eagerly anticipate continuing our discussions and deliberations with the ACC. And Sri Lanka Cricket to begin our event planning and preparations.

The top two teams from each group will advance to the Super Four stage in the 2023 edition. Which will include Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan in one group and India, Pakistan, and Nepal in the other. The final will then feature the top two finishers from the Super Four stage.

Hybrid Model:

The hybrid approach was put up as a remedy as a result of India declining to visit Pakistan due to tense political ties between the two nations. As the official hosts, Pakistan, the PCB was eager to ensure that at least a portion of the event was played in Pakistan. Although Bangladesh raised concerns about the region’s inclement weather in September, the UAE was considered to be a suitable neutral venue.

Despite the fact that the 2022 competition was played in the 20-over format, Sri Lanka is the reigning champion. India defeated Bangladesh in a thrilling final during the most recent 50-over Asia Cup, which was contested in the UAE in 2018.
