“I am stepping down from the post to offer the PCB the opportunity to conduct a transparent inquiry about the conflict of interest allegations raised in the media. If the committee finds me not guilty, I will resume my role as the chief selector,” PCB’s statement on the development read.

PCB later on Monday evening, minutes after Inzamam resigned from his post, took to social media to announce. They have set up a five-member committee to investigate the media allegations in respect of conflict of interest.

“Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has set up a five-member fact-finding committee to investigate allegations. In respect of conflict of interest reported in the media on the team selection process. The committee will submit its report and any recommendations to the PCB Management in an expeditious manner,” the statement read.

Inzamam, confirming the resignation to CricketPakistan, shrugged off the claims saying that he has no connection with the aforementioned company.

“People speak without research. If you’re going to point fingers at me, raise questions on me, I should resign. If PCB wants to investigate me, I am available. People are talking [about me] without having any kind of proof, if there is any, then bring it. I have asked the PCB to do the same. I have no connection with the player agent company, these types of accusations hurt me,” he told SAMAA TV.
